LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Shaun Marcum was put on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday due to soreness in his right elbow.

Sports

Marcum, 26, had been suffering soreness in his pitching arm for the past couple weeks.

In 15 starts this season, Marcum has a 5-4 record and his 2.65 ERA is the second-best in the American League.

"This is a blow to the rotation that's for sure," Toronto pitching coach Brad Arnsberg told reporters. "He's throwing the ball as well as anybody on the entire staff."
