German aid for Opel not currently on agenda-EconMin

BERLIN, Nov 9 (Reuters) - German Economy Minister Rainer Bruederle said on Monday that U.S. automaker General Motors [GM.UL] had not yet presented a plan for Opel and therefore the question of providing state aid was not being considered.

Speaking to reporters in Berlin, Bruederle also said a meeting with GM Chief Executive Fritz Henderson had not yet been scheduled.

GM's board last week abruptly dropped plans to sell a 55 percent stake in Opel to auto parts maker Magna (MGa.TO) and its Russian bank partner Sberbank (SBER03.MM). [ID:nN03522653]

The German Economy Ministry has struck a sceptical tone over GM's chances of getting the kind of aid the German government was prepared to offer Magna for its Opel bid. (Reporting by Andreas Moeser, Reporting by Sarah Marsh)
