BEIJING, March 4 (Reuters) - Air China (0753.HK)(601111.SS) Chairman Kong Dong said on Wednesday the airline can be profitable in 2009, after China's three major airlines all expect to report losses for 2008.

The company has submitted a request for a government cash injection and expects to get at least as much as the 3 billion yuan ($439 million) expected by rival China Southern (1055.HK), Kong told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of the parliament's advisory body.

Kong also said the airline's revenues in the first two months of 2009 were up 2 percent from a year earlier.
