Thai stocks seen higher on energy shares

Sun Jun 29, 2008 10:41pm EDT
BANGKOK, June 30 (Reuters) - Thai stocks are expected to
open higher on Monday, led by the energy sector .SETEN as
investors expected the government to float liquefied petroleum
gas prices next month.
"The PTT group should benefit from the float," Siam City
Securities analyst Sukit Udomsirikul said, referring to PTT Pcl
PTT.BK, the country's biggest energy firm.
"That should help stimulate market sentiment which is
clouded by concerns about high inflation and politics," he
said.
The domestic price for LPG was fixed last year at 18.13 baht
per kg and the government said it would float the price in
July. It did not set a specific date.
Commodities .SETA and shipping firms .SETTP may also
get a boost from rising food prices and freight rates, Sukit
said.
He expected resistance on the main index .SETI of 780
points and support at 770 points.
On Friday, the benchmark SET index rose 0.17 percent to
775.73 points.
