BANGKOK, Sept 24 Thailand's 81-year-old King Bhumibol Adulyadej is recovering and eating more after being admitted to hospital at the weekend suffering from fever and fatigue, the Royal Household Bureau said on Thursday.
The revered monarch no longer has a fever after being given medication administered through a saline drip. He has been given physical therapy to help him regain strength, the bureau said in a statement.
Doctors found no bacteria or virus after tests, it added.
The world's longest-reigning monarch was admitted to Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital on Saturday. He had a routine check-up at the same hospital three days earlier.
The king is regarded by his people as semi-divine and a pillar of stability.
Last month the monarch called for national unity in a rare comment on a four-year political crisis that has triggered credit rating downgrades and unsettled investors in Southeast Asia's second-biggest economy [ID:nBKK142078].
