Indian shares open up 0.62 percent

MUMBAI, Dec 20 (Reuters) - Indian shares opened 0.62 percent higher on Thursday, led by Reliance Industries (RELI.BO) and ICICI Bank (ICBK.BO).

At 9:57 a.m. (0428 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was up 0.66 percent, or 125.92 points, at 19,217.88.

The 50-issue NSE index gained 0.44 percent to 5,776.65. (Reporting by Devidutta Tripathy, editing by John Mair)
