Indian shares open up 0.19 percent

MUMBAI, Jan 1 (Reuters) - Indian shares opened 0.19 percent higher on Tuesday, led by gains in Reliance Industries Ltd (RELI.BO) and Housing Development Finance Corp (HDFC.BO).

At 9:55 a.m. (0425 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was up 38.28 points at 20,325.27.

The 50-issue NSE index was up 0.17 percent at 6,148.90.
