Indian shares open 0.11 pct higher, Tata Motors up

MUMBAI, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Indian shares opened 0.11 percent up on Friday, bucking weak Asian cues, led higher by ICICI Bank Ltd (ICBK.BO) and Reliance Industries Ltd (RELI.BO).

At 9:55 a.m. (0425 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was up 22.74 points at 20,367.94.

The 50-issue NSE index was up 0.53 percent at 6,211.35.

Shares in top bus and truck maker Tata Motors Ltd (TAMO.BO) rose 1.35 percent after it was chosen as a front-runner to buy Ford Motor Co's (F.N) Jaguar and Land Rover brands. See [ID:nL03141022]. (Reporting by Hiral Vora, Editing by John Mair)
