Nov 2 (Reuters) - ATS Medical Inc (ATSI.O) said its heart valve, ATS 3f Aortic Bioprosthesis, was implanted in the first human robot-assisted valve replacement procedure, sending its shares up as much as 7 percent.

The valve, which is designed to function like a native valve in patients, is flexible and does not require the support of a stent, making it implantable through minimally invasive procedures.

The cardiac device maker said that the procedure -- performed using Intuitive Surgical Inc's (ISRG.O) surgical system -- expands the company's existing minimally invasive program. ATS shares were up about 3 percent at $2.76 Monday on Nasdaq. They touched a high of $2.89 earlier in the session. (Reporting by Vidya L Nathan in Bangalore; Editing by Aradhana Aravindan)
