UTEK moves to H1 loss as revenue drops 67 pct

Aug 8 (Reuters) - UTEK Corp (UTK), which runs an intellectual property database, said on Friday it swung to a first-half pretax loss as revenue dropped 67 percent.

For the six months to June 30, the U.S.- and London-listed company posted a pretax loss of $1.26 million, compared with a profit of $7.05 million last year, as revenue declined to $3.94 million from $11.91 million.

Expenses rose to $9.86 million from $7.28 million.

Separately, the company said it has joined forces with the American Physical Society, a professional organisation of physicists, to bring together UTEK's TekScout service and APS's research scientists and science educators on one platform.
