July 21 (Reuters) - The following were the top stories in the New York Times business pages on Monday. Reuters has not verified these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.
* Global food shortages have placed the Middle East and North Africa in a quandary, as they are forced to choose between growing more crops to feed an expanding population or preserving their already scant supply of water.
* The Midwest Air Group will cut daily flights to 11 United States cities including Baltimore, San Diego, St. Louis and two Florida destinations as the carrier grounds a third of its fleet to counter soaring fuel costs.
* Almost two-thirds of American newspapers publish less foreign news than they did just three years ago, nearly as many print less national news, and despite new demands on newsrooms like blogs and video, most of them have smaller news staffs, according to a new study.
