Aug 13 (Reuters) - British pawnbroker Albemarle & Bond (ALBH.L) said on Thursday it named Barry Stevenson as chief executive, effective Sept. 14, succeeding Greville Nicholls, who will become chairman.

Nicholls replaces Chairman Charles Nicolson, who stepped down following a period of ill health.

Stevenson was most recently the CEO of garden supply store operator Wyevale Garden Centres.

Shares of the company closed at 202.50 pence on Wednesday on the London Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Shivani Singh in Bangalore; Editing by Vinu Pilakkott)
