* Gets maintenance framework contract for Midlands (Adds details)

Nov 9 (Reuters) - British construction firm Costain Group Plc (COSG.L) said it got, in joint venture with France's cement giant Lafarge (LAFP.PA), a maintenance framework deal of up to 250 million pounds from the UK's Highways Agency.

The Midlands Works Framework Contract 4 by the Highways Agency has been established to undertake structural work, surfacing and roadworks over two years in the Midlands area.

The framework enables the Highways Agency to implement the Treasury's fiscal stimulus initiative.

Costain, which works across the transport, retail, education, oil and gas industries, has won contracts with the Sellafield nuclear power plant and London's Crossrail transport project earlier this year.

Its shares closed at 27.50 pence on Friday on the London Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Purwa Naveen Raman in Bangalore; Editing by Himani Sarkar)
