Murdoch's pay falls to $27.5 million in 2008

(Reuters) - News Corp NWSa.N Chief Executive Rupert Murdoch's total compensation for 2008 fell 14 percent to about $27.5 million, the company said in a regulatory filing.

In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday, News Corp said Murdoch's base salary was $8.1 million in the fiscal year, and he was allocated $17.5 million in non-equity incentive plan compensation.

News Corp President Peter Chernin's total 2008 compensation was $28.8 million, compared with about $34 million a year ago.
