BANGALORE, Feb 5 (Reuters) - International Business Machines Corp (IBM.N), the world's largest computer services company, said on Tuesday it had launched a new centre in India to meet robust global demand for outsourcing.

The facility in Noida, an information technology hub on the outskirts of New Delhi, will provide application services to IBM's global clients, the company said in a statement.

The U.S. giant will open another centre in the vicinity that will be fully operational by mid-year, it said. The two centres will house about 3,000 employees.

In June 2006, IBM said it would invest $6 billion in India over three years, underscoring Asia's third-largest economy's growing importance as a hub for information technology outsourcing and research services.

India's low-cost, English-speaking engineering workforce has attracted a slew of global companies such as IBM and Accenture (ACN.N), which outsources services such as supply-chain management, payroll processing and financial analytics.
