India's Wipro unit wins $50 mln outsourcing deal

BANGALORE, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Wipro Infotech, a unit of India's third-largest software services exporter, Wipro Ltd (WIPR.BO) (WIT.N), said on Thursday it had won a $50 million, five-year outsourcing deal from an Indian retailer .

Wipro Infotech said it would implement and manage the retail IT operations for Pantaloon Retail India Ltd (PART.BO), which has more than 1,000 stores in 53 cities in India.

Ahead of the announcement, shares in Wipro, which counts telecoms gear makers Cisco (CSCO.O) and Nortel NT.N among its clients, ended 1.4 percent higher at 415.75 rupees in a Mumbai market .BSESN that rose 4.8 percent. (Reporting by Sumeet Chatterjee; Editing by John Mair)
