UPDATE 1-India Wockhardt gets U.S. nod for anti-fungal drug

MUMBAI, May 31 (Reuters) - Indian drug maker Wockhardt (WCKH.BO) said on Thursday it had received tentative approval from U.S. Food and Drug Administration to sell terbinafine, a generic version of anti-fungal drug Lamisil sold by Novartis (NOVN.VX).

"The U.S. market for terbinafine tablets is about $680 million," Wockhardt Chairman Habil Khorakiwala said in a statement.

Wockhardt currently sells 20 other products in the United States, the statement said.

Shares in Wockhardt closed 1.4 percent down at 414.75 rupees in a Mumbai market that rose 0.9 percent.
