Ten feared dead in powerful Sri Lanka blast

COLOMBO, June 16 (Reuters) - Ten people were feared killed and several injured in a powerful blast in Sri Lanka's northern town of Vavuniya on Monday, the military said.

"There is an explosion in Vavuniya town," Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

Military sources said the blast happened near a police facility, but further details were not immediately available. (Reporting by Ranga Sirilal; Editing by David Fox)
