TUOI TRE

-- Partly private lender Southern Bank said it has raised rates on all dong deposits by between 0.1 and 1 percentage point, now paying 8 percent for one-year deposits.

LAO DONG

-- Partly private Military Bank said its loans in the first quarter rose 6 percent from the end of 2008 to 16.5 trillion dong ($929.6 million) while deposits jumped 12 percent to nearly 35 trillion dong.

-- The total buy orders on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange .VNI reached 126.66 million shares on Tuesday, up 15 percent from the previous session, the record volume since the exchange came into operation, statistics showed.

-- Overseas remittances may rise late this year when the global financial crisis subdues, bankers said. Vietnam received $8 billion in remittances in 2008, up 19.4 percent from 2007.

-- Disbursement of Vietnam's first stimulus package of 17 trillion dong ($958 million) began in February and is projected to inject 420 trillion dong into the economy this year. About 218 trillion dong was pumped into the economy as of April 10, the central bank said.

-- The Vietnamese authorities have so far seized counterfeit money with the face value of 1 billion dong in the northern province of Lang Son bordering China.

-- The Finance Ministry said it has published the formula on calculating the import tariffs on oil products to help consumers and market regulators supervise price changes by fuel retailers.
