THOI BAO KINH TE VIETNAM

-- Vietnam's inflation control measures have shown preliminary results with the consumer price index rise in June slowing to 2.2 percent against May, according to the Planning and Investment Ministry.

-- Property prices in new urban area projects in Ho Chi Minh City have dropped up to 60 percent compared to the end of 2007 due to weak demand, dealers said.

TUOI TRE

-- Vinacomin has signed a framework agreement to import coal from Indonesia with Indonesia firm PT Berau and Maintime of Hong Kong to supply the fuel to the coal-fired Vinh Tan 1 power plant.

-- The government said it loaned about 5.24 trillion dong ($327 million) to 748,000 poor students nationwide.

-- State ship builder Vinashin has completed the construction of a 150,000-tonnes FPSO which will be used to store crude oil for the Rong oilfield.

-- State builder Vinashin has decided not to invest $1 billion in a venture with South Korean group POSCO (005490.KS), the world's third-largest steelmaker, to build a steel mill in the central province of Khanh Hoa, Chairman Pham Thanh Binh said.

-- Vietnam is forecast to export $3 billion worth of furniture this year, from $2.4 billion last year. It is paying about $1 billion a year to import raw material for export, industry officials said.

-- Ship builder Vinashin reported revenues as of June 21 reached more than 8.7 trillion dong ($529 million), a surge of 82.5 percent from the same period last year.

-- Vietnam has exported an estimated 42,000 tonnes of pepper in the first half of this year with revenues rising 16 percent from a year earlier period to $150 million, the Agriculture Ministry said.
