-- Canon Inc (7751.T) has won permission to build its fourth plant in the northern province of Hung Yen. The factory, estimated to cost $63.4 million in the first phase, is scheduled to be completed by July 2009.

DAU TU CHUNG KHOAN

-- Sacombank-SBJ, a subsidiary of Sacombank STB.HM, has opened a gold trading exchange in Ho Chi Minh City. The exchange allows investors to trade gold within a daily trading band of +/- 1 percent.

-- Nam Viet Corporation ANV.HM signed a memorandum of understanding with the Moscow City Food Resources Department to supply fish, seafood, vegetables, fruits and other food products to Moscow. Nam Viet's chairman expected Vietnam's exports of fish and seafood to Moscow would reach $200 million in 2008.

-- An Giang Coffee may delay its share listing until early 2009 if the Hanoi Securities Trading Center's index remains low at around 100-200 points during the fourth quarter of 2008, An Giang Coffee's Chairman Nguyen Van An said. An Giang Coffee won approval to list 8.3 million shares on Hanoi bourse in late November.

-- Vietnam aimed to finish border demarcation with China ahead of schedule on December 10, said Ho Xuan Son, Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of the National Border Committee.

-- More than 41,400 people have died of AIDS so far in Vietnam, the Ministry of Health said. Majority of Vietnamese AIDS patients are between 20 and 39 years old.

-- Several foreign investors including Samsung and Daewoo have expressed interest in investing in Hanoi's first urban rail network at a cost of more than $1.2 billion.
