HANOI MOI

-- State-run Agribank said it had started a savings package to raise 6 trillion dong ($338 million) between May 1 and July 29 and would award gold to depositors who win a lucky draw in early August.

-- Agribank said it would seek funding from foreign loans, retained profits or a government cash injection to raise its registered capital so that it could achieve the internationally recognised capital adequacy ratio of 8 percent.

-- Banks have raised the interest rates on long-term dong deposits to as much as 9.7 percent on the expectation that inflation would be higher next year from this year's projected 6 percent.

-- Fertiliser maker PVFCCo DPM.HM said it earned 467 billion dong during the first four months of the year, or 43 percent of its annual target.

-- Japan may reduce its imports of Vietnamese coffee this year due to economic constraints, the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association said. Last year it bought 6 percent of Vietnam's coffee exports.

-- Nearly 3,000 fishermen on 241 ships were still working on waters between the Paracel and Spratly Islands on Tuesday in the danger zone near Storm Cham-Hom's centre, authorities said.

-- Japanese car maker Toyota has recalled nearly 700 Toyota Fortuner models in Vietnam due to a technical problem.
