FedEx raises Vietnam services capacity five-fold

HANOI, Sept 24 (Reuters) - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp (FDX.N), said on Wednesday it had launched a new Airbus A310 service to Vietnam to meet the country's increasing demand for reliable time-definite express services.

The new service increases FedEx's capacity in and out of Vietnam five-fold to more than 30 tonnes a day and thus shortens the delivery time of a cargo from and to the capital Hanoi, Fedex said in a statement.

"The transformation of Vietnam's economy over the last 15 years has seen Vietnam emerge as a powerful economic force in this region," said David L. Cunningham Jr., FedEx Express Asia Pacific's President.

FedEx competes against a host of international express transport companies including DHL Express Global, UPS Inc (UPS.N) and Dutch mail company TNT NV (TNT.AS). (Reporting by Nguyen Nhat Lam, Editing by Jacqueline Wong)
