HELSINKI, Aug 1 (Reuters) - Finnish telecommunications operator Elisa (ELI1V.HE) reported on Friday a sharper-than-expected fall in second-quarter profits, but repeated it sees sales and profits in 2008 flat year-on-year.

Elisa posted April-June earnings per share of 0.20 euro, compared with 0.31 euro a year earlier, and missing all analysts' forecasts in a Reuters poll, that ranged between 0.24 euro and 0.32 euro. (Reporting by Helsinki newsroom)
