SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST -- Mainland police have charged an alleged triad mastermind and his associate with attempted murder over the shooting plot against former democratic party chief Martin Lee and publishing tycoon Jimmy Lai.

-- Chinese cement maker BBMG is expected to be Hong Kong's hottest initial public offering in 16 months, receiving HK$300 billion (US$38.7 billion) of orders from eager investors.

-- Henderson Land (0012.HK) chairman Lee Shau-kee said a bullish stock market sentiment has returned with property prices rising and the benchmark index .HSI is expected to breach the 20,000-point level by the end of the year.

-- Guoco Group (0053.HK) has bought 745,000 shares of Bank of East Asia (0023.HK) at an average price of HK$22.325 per share for HK$16.6 million, raising its stake in the lender to 6.03 percent from 5.99 percent -- the second-largest shareholder of the lender, according to a stock exchange filing.

MING PAO

-- The Securities and Futures Commission is close to sealing a deal with 16 major banks on mis-selling of Lehman Brothers minibonds that could see investors recoup up to 70 percent of their money, and the settlement will be announced as early as Wednesday, according to people involved in the talks.
