Drone missile strike kills at least five in Pakistan
"A drone was flying very low and fired the missile. It destroyed three houses," a resident of the village Dandi Darpakheil told Reuters, requesting anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information, as drone attacks are typically launched by U.S. forces across the border in Afghanistan.
The missile hit dwellings close to a sprawling religious school or madrasa founded by a veteran mujahideen commander, Jalaluddin Haqqani.
There were unconfirmed reports the aging Haqqani had died earlier this year, but his son Sirajuddin has emerged as a major militant leader in his place. Military officials were not immediately available for comments.
