Indonesia and Japan will launch an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) on July 1 by forming a joint committee to erase thousands of import duties and sending Indonesian nurses to Japan, Japan's ambassador to Indonesia Kojiro Shiojiri said.

Indonesia is aiming to export 6 million tonnes of rice starting 2009 and is preparing more land for rice cultivation in Merauke, Papua, funded by consortium from Saudi Arabia, Agriculture Minister Anton Apriyantono said.

- MITRA RAJASA PLANS $75 MILLION RIGHTS ISSUE

Indonesian transportation company PT Mitra Rajasa Tbk (MIRA.JK) said it is planning to raise up to $75 million rupiah via a rights issue by the end of 2008 partly to fund the acquisition of PT Apexindo Pratama Duta Tbk APEX.JK.
