    (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 8 a.m. EDT on Sunday.

    * BAGHDAD - The U.S. military said it killed 49 "criminals" in Baghdad's Sadr City district in a raid to capture a Shi'ite militant suspected of being linked to the kidnapping of U.S. soldiers. Reuters witnesses said two toddlers were killed. Iraqi police said 13 civilians were killed and 69 wounded.

    MOSUL - Two policemen were killed and two wounded in clashes with gunmen in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

    BAGHDAD - The Iraqi army killed seven insurgents and detained 39 during the last 24 hours in different parts of Iraq, the Defense Ministry said.

    BAGHDAD - One U.S. soldier was killed and eight others wounded by a roadside bomb targeting their vehicle during fighting in eastern Baghdad on Thursday, the U.S. military said.

    BAGHDAD - Five bodies were found in different parts of Baghdad on Saturday, police said.

    FALLUJA - A suicide car bomb targeting an Iraqi police checkpoint killed two policemen and wounded four others in northern Falluja, 50 km (32 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.

    KERBALA - Several mortar rounds landed near an Iraqi army base killing one soldier and wounding three others in the eastern outskirts of Kerbala, 110 km (68 miles) southwest of Baghdad on Saturday, police said.

    BAGHDAD - The Iraqi army found four decayed and buried bodies, including those of three women, in western Baghdad's Amiriya district on Saturday, police said.

    * MOSUL - Gunmen killed an officer in the former Iraqi army in the northern city of Mosul, police said.

    * MOSUL - Gunmen killed a cement factory employee heading to work in Mosul, police said. It was not clear why he was killed.
