The unbeaten Russians now await the winners of the semi-final between title holders Canada and Olympic champions Sweden later on Friday.

The Russian win was payback for a year ago when the Finns scored a 2-1 overtime victory in Moscow to spoil the home party.

Sergei Fedorov, Danis Zaripov, Alexei Morozov and Maxim Sushinskiy scored the goals while San Jose Sharks Evgeni Nabokov showed why he is a Vezina trophy finalist as the NHL's top netminder by stopping 23 shots for a second straight shutout.
