Malaysia's Ranhill JV wins Indian water deal

KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 (Reuters) - A joint venture of Malaysian water firm Ranhill Utilities Bhd RANU.KL has secured a water supply contract in India, Ranhill Utilities said on Friday.

Haldia Water Management Ltd, in which Ranhill Utilities owns a 33.33 percent stake, was awarded the contract to build a 113.5 million litre per day water treatment plant in the eastern town of Haldia, the Malaysian company said in a statement.

It also won the concession to operate and maintain another water treatment plant of the same capacity for a period of 25 years.

The company did not state the value of the contract.

Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company Ltd, a subsidiary of Indian steel firm TATA Steel Ltd (TISC.BO), is also a shareholder of Haldia Water Management, it said. (Reporting by Soo Ai Peng; Editing by Paul Bolding)
