-- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (People Justice Party) adviser Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday won the Permatang Pauh by-election with a thumping majority of 15,671 to mark his official return to politics after an enforced absence of 10 years.

-- Plantation giant Sime Darby Bhd (SIME.KL) posted a record net profit of 3.51 billion ringgit for the financial year ended June 30, 2008, up 47 percent from 2.4 billion ringgit in 2007.

-- TM International Bhd's TMIT.KL net profit for the second quarter ended June 30 fell 37.7 percent to 366 million ringgit from 588 million ringgit a year earlier, despite a 556 million ringgit, or 23.4 percent, rise in revenue.
