MOSCOW, Dec 4 (Reuters) - Gazprom (GAZP.MM) may get all of Yakutia large gas fields, which belong to the state, after the government decided to qualify those fields as strategic deposits, the head of Russia's largest region said on Tuesday.

"It looks like Yakutia gas deposits will be transferred to Gazprom," Vyacheslav Shtyrov, president of Yakutia, told a news conference.

On Monday, the government said it had identified 31 "strategic" gas fields across the country that will be developed for Russia's energy security and will be off-limits for development by foreign firms.

Yakutia hosts most of the deposits on the list, including the Chayandinskoye field, which Gazprom has previously asked the government to give it out-of-competition rights to develop. (Reporting by Vladimir Soldatkin, writing by Dmitry Zhdannikov; editing by Gleb Bryanski)
