    Celtics beat Raptors in pre season game in Rome

    ROME (Reuters) - New recruit Kevin Garnett scored 19 points to help the Boston Celtics beat the Toronto Raptors 89-85 in a pre-season game in Rome on Saturday.

    Italian Andrea Bargnani, who is from Rome, notched 13 points for Toronto to the delight of the large crowd.

    The ambitious Celtics acquired 10-times All-Star Garnett in July from the Minnesota Timberwolves, who defeated Efes Pilsen of Turkey 84-81 in Istanbul earlier.

    The NBA Europe tussles were part of several pre-season games being played on the continent including the Celtics against the Timberwolves in London this Wednesday and the Raptors visiting Real Madrid on Thursday.
