Bayer drops plans to develop male contraceptive
FRANKFURT, June 6 (Reuters) - Bayer BAYG.DE, the inventor of Aspirin more than a century ago, has dropped plans to develop a contraceptive drug for men.
The German company has stopped a project to produce the so-called "pill for men," a Bayer spokesman said on Wednesday, confirming a report in Tagesspiegel newspaper.
Bayer's Schering unit had been seeking to develop the drug, which was meant to use injections of male and female hormones, for years. US-partner Organon dropped out of the project last year.
