FACTBOX: Security developments in Iraq

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 3 p.m. EST on Thursday.

* BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb, followed soon after by a suicide bomb attack, killed 55 people and wounded 130 in the predominately Shi'ite Karada district in central Baghdad, police said.

* BAGHDAD - Two bodies were found in different districts in Baghdad, police said.

TAL AFAR - An Iraqi special weapons and tactics team killed nine suspected al Qaeda fighters and detained eight others, two of them wounded, during a raid south of Tal Afar, 420 km (260 miles) north of Baghdad, on Sunday, the U.S. military said. Three members of the Iraqi SWAT team were killed and three wounded. Three civilians were also wounded. The Iraqi security forces were backed by U.S. special forces soldiers.

SAMARRA - U.S. soldiers killed a suspected al Qaeda fighter and detained four others during a raid near Samarra, 100 km (60 miles) north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said. Three other suspected insurgents were detained during raids against al Qaeda in northern Mosul and Baiji.

BAGHDAD - U.S. soldiers detained four suspected members of an Iranian-backed militia in Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. soldiers killed three suspected al Qaeda fighters and detained 19 others in raids in central Iraq over the past two days, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - One person was killed and five wounded by a roadside bomb in northern Baghdad's al-Waziriya district, police said.

HILLA - Two people were wounded when a bomb exploded inside a minibus in the city of Hilla, 100 km (60 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - The bodies of two people were found in Baghdad on Wednesday, police said.

MOSUL - The bodies of three men, two of them decapitated, were found in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad on Wednesday, police said.

MOSUL - Gunmen killed four off-duty prison guards in Mosul on Wednesday, police said.

TAL ASSWAD - Two people were killed and 10 wounded in clashes between al Qaeda and villagers in Tal Asswad near Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, on Wednesday, police said.
