HELSINKI, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Finnish sports equipment maker Amer Sports (AMEAS.HE) said on Wednesday it would cut up to 400 jobs globally as part of its restructuring plans in 2008.

Amer Chief Executive Roger Talermo told a news conference the jobs would be cut mainly from France and Austria where the company will shut its ski and ski boots manufacturing plants, but said some jobs may be cut in Romania as well.

Amer reported earlier on Wednesday a drop in October-December operating profit to 11 million euros ($16.11 million), dented by low winter sports sales. (Reporting by Agnieszka Flak; editing by Sue Thomas)
