HARARE, May 9 (Reuters) - Regional mediator and South African President Thabo Mbeki arrived in Zimbabwe on Friday for talks with veteran President Robert Mugabe about the country's disputed elections.

Mbeki, whose "soft diplomacy" approach towards the crisis in Zimbabwe has triggered criticism at home and abroad, will hold talks with political leaders as appointed mediator for the regional SADC grouping. (Writing by Caroline Drees; Editing by Matthew Tostevin)
