TAEKWONDO - qualification complete

There are four weights for both men and women. Both genders will have 62 representatives plus four invitation places of either gender.

The 2007 world championships in September, and regional qualifiers, have provided the majority of the places already.

TENNIS

The tournament will feature singles and doubles tournaments for men and women. A total of 172 players will take part; the singles will have 64 players and the doubles 32 pairs. A country can have a maximum of 6 men and 6 women.

Singles - top 48 in the rankings of June 9. The ruling body (ITF) will allocate another 14 places based on rankings and continental representation.

The list of qualifiers is expected in late June.

Doubles - An additional 10 players will qualify from June 9 doubles rankings. The ITF will then select teams from nominations taking into account, among other factors, geographical location and whether the country concerned is already represented in the tennis event. here here

TRIATHLON - qualification complete

There will be 55 men and 55 women in Beijing. Eight top-ranking countries will be allowed 3 athletes per event and the others will be allowed a maximum of 2. List of qualifiers - here here here

VOLLEYBALL - qualification complete

There will be 12 men's and 12 women's teams in Beijing.

Men's - China, Brazil, Russia, Serbia, Egypt, United States, Venezuela, Germany, Poland, Italy, Japan and Bulgaria have qualified.

Women's - China, Italy, Brazil, United States, Algeria, Cuba, Russia, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Poland, Japan and Venezuela have qualified. here

Beach volleyball

There will be 24 men's and 24 women's teams in Beijing, a total of 96 athletes. One country can enter 2 teams in both competitions.

Qualification will depend on the rankings as of July 20. here here WEIGHTLIFTING - qualification complete

Eight men's weights and 7 women's will be contested and a total of 260 athletes will take part, 90 of them women.

WRESTLING- qualification complete

There will be 14 men's weights and 4 women's weights fought at the Beijing Games in the two disciplines, freestyle and Greco-Roman, and a total of 344 athletes.

A nation can enter only 1 athlete per event.

The 2007 world championships were a major qualifying event, providing places for 102 men and 32 women. Continental championships and qualifying tournaments in the early part of 2008 provide the majority of the remaining places.
