Kraft to invest $100 mln in Russia coffee factory
MOSCOW, March 14 (Reuters) - Kraft Foods Inc (KFT.N) is set to invest $100 million in an instant coffee factory in Russia's northwestern Leningrad region, able to churn out 5,000 tonnes per year, the region's press service said on Thursday.
"Production will span every stage of the process -- roasting the green coffee, extraction and sublimation, deep freezing and vacuum drying," the regional administration said in a statement.
The factory will produce Jacobs Monarch, Carte Noire and Maxim brands of the coffee, while Maxwell House and Jacobs Aroma will continue to be imported from Western Europe, the statement said. (Reporting by Denis Pinchuk; Writing by Simon Shuster; Editing by Quentin Bryar)
