Kazakhstan copper output falls 5.1 pct in 2007

ALMATY, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Kazakhstan's refined copper output fell 5.1 percent year-on-year to 405,843 tonnes in 2007, the state statistics agency said on Monday.

It said zinc production fell 1.8 percent to 358,163 tonnes, while alumina output rose 2.3 percent to 1.550 million tonnes in the same period.

Kazakhstan's biggest copper producer is London-listed Kazakhmys (KAZ.L).

Zinc is produced by Kazzinc, owned by Switzerland-based trading company Glencore, and alumina by Alyumini Kazakhstan ALKZ.KZ, part of the London-listed ENRC (ENRC.L).
