FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Outgoing Siemens AG (SIEGn.DE) Chief Executive Klaus Kleinfeld has met an adviser to private equity group Blackstone Group LP BG.UL as part of his hunt for a new job, a source close to Kleinfeld said on Saturday.

The source said a report in WirtschaftsWoche magazine was correct in saying Kleinfeld met former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, an adviser to the New York-based group, in Munich earlier this month.

"He met up with Henry Kissinger, whom he has known for years," the source told Reuters.

"But he is still a long way away from making a decision in any particular direction."

WirtschaftsWoche quoted industry insiders as saying Kleinfeld, who leaves the German engineering group at the end of June after losing the support of the supervisory board, was interested in a position in the United States.

Both Blackstone and Siemens declined to comment. Blackstone made headlines this week when it said its co-founders would receive at least $2.33 billion when part of the firm goes public in the next few weeks.
