UPDATE 1-Heineken-beer volume up 11.3 pct in early 2007
(Adds detail, shares)
AMSTERDAM, May 16 (Reuters) - Dutch brewer Heineken NV (HEIN.AS) said on Wednesday beer volumes grew more than 10 percent in the first four months of 2007, and it reaffirmed its full-year outlook of 10-13 percent underlying net profit growth.
Consolidated beer volume grew 11.3 percent to 34.9 million hectolitres due to strong growth across all regions, the world's fourth largest brewer by sales said in a statement.
Shares in Heineken were little affected by the announcement and by 1130 GMT traded up 0.1 percent at 39.9 euros, outperforming the DJ Stoxx European food and beverages index .SX3P which traded down 0.6 percent.
Heineken normally reports only half and full-year figures.
The brewer added it would not alter its full-year outlook as its peak selling season is from May to August.
Last year, the brewer reported underlying net profit growth of 12.6 percent, above its earlier outlook.
Heineken earns about 70 percent of its operating profit in the mature beer markets of the United States and Europe, but is looking to diversify with new products and expand into high-growth emerging market such as Russia.
In the first four months of the year, traditionally slower in the northern hemisphere due to colder weather, beer volumes grew 13.7 percent in central and eastern Europe, 4.6 in western Europe and 5.7 percent in the Americas.
Volumes grew 26.5 percent in the Asia Pacific region and 17.1 percent in Africa. The recently introduced low-calorie beer Heineken Premium Light was on track to meet its sales volume target of more than 1 million hectolitres in 2007, the company said.
The company's cost saving programme was also on track to deliver incremental gross savings between 135 million euros and 155 million euros before taxation for 2007, Heineken said.
