C&C (GCC.I), the Irish beverage maker behind the Magners branded cider, has reported a 15 percent decline in its revenue, and blamed it on its cider division, which suffered a fall of 18 percent. In Britain, where C&C faces strong competition from the market-leading Strongbow and Bulmers original cider brands, the company's year-on-year decline in the cider division intensified to 30 percent.

COBHAM PAYS 416 MILLION DOLLARS FOR US DEFENCE FIRM

Cobham (COB.L), the aerospace and defence group, has announced a 416 million dollar acquisition of Sparta, an unlisted U.S. company, which primarily focuses on classified work. Sparta, whose Commander's Analysis and Planning Simulation shows users how a ballistic defence might work, has also a military composite business that has worked on the F-22 and F-35 stealth fighter programmes. The acquisition enables Cobham to expand into intelligence and missile defence markets.

CARPHONE IN BREACH OF DATA LAWS

The Information Commissioner's office has found Carphone Warehouse (CPW.L) and Talk Talk broke data protection laws by publishing customers' confidential details online. The privacy watchdog also found that the companies passed inaccurate information to credit reference and debt collection agencies.
