UPDATE 1-Informa says year results to meet expectations
(Adds more detail, comment, background)
LONDON, Dec 17 (Reuters) - British academic and business publisher Informa Plc (INF.L) said on Monday its 2007 results should meet expectations, with 9 percent organic revenue growth at constant currencies.
"Strong trading in our important September, October and November months which account for around 35 percent of group operating profit, is carrying on into December," the owner of shipping newspaper Lloyd's List and drug industry publication Scrip said in a statement.
"Our strategy to rebalance the company with a broader focus is paying off," chief executive David Gilbertson said. "Publishing renewal rates, PI repeat business and Large Scale Events portfolio give us good visibility into 2008," he said.
Informa's Performance Improvement (PI) business helps multinational companies be consistent across their global operations. "The PI sales pipeline for 2008 is 8 percent ahead of where it was at this same point last year."
Informa also has an events business which in October staged Cityscape Dubai, attracting more than 50,000 participants from 120 countries with over 1,000 exhibitors.
Informa shares, which have underperformed other London-listed media sector .FTASX5550 by 22 percent over the past 12 months, closed at 427.5 pence on Friday to value the business at 1.86 billion pounds ($3.77 billion). (Reporting by Dan Lalor; Editing by Quentin Bryar)
