Galapagos in osteoporosis deal with Eli Lilly
BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Belgian biotechnology company Galapagos (GLPG.BR)(GLPG.AS) said on Wednesday it struck a global collaboration agreement with U.S. pharmaceutical group Eli Lilly (LLY.N) to develop new medicines for treating osteoporosis.
Galapagos will provide Lilly access to 12 of its osteoporosis targets, that may play a key role in bone formation, and Galapagos will be responsible for development of drug candidates potentially through to phase IIa clinical Proof of Concept, it said in a statement.
Galapagos specializes in bone and joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis.
