iShares Silver Trust holdings rise to record 6,138 T

LONDON, July 23 (Reuters) - The stock of silver held by iShares Silver Trust SLV.A, the largest silver-backed exchange traded fund listed in New York, rose 1 percent to a record 6,138.45 tonnes on July 22, the fund said on Wednesday.

The silver market is particularly reliant on investment demand, as other uses of physical silver such as photography have been declining in recent years.

Spot silver was trading at $17.61/17.67 an ounce at 0957 GMT, against $18.00/18.08 late in New York on Tuesday. (Reporting by Jan Harvey; Editing by Editing by Peter Blackburn)
