A gunman, who police believe was a Palestinian, shot and wounded two policemen guarding a gate to Jerusalem's walled Old City on July 11 in an incident Israel described as a "terrorist attack." The gunman escaped.

A police spokesman said David Shriki, who was shot in the head, had died from his injuries.

On Tuesday, a Palestinian rampaged in a bulldozer on a street in Jewish West Jerusalem, injuring 16 people before he was shot dead, the second such incident in the city in the past three weeks.
