FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, April 26

April 26 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1900 GMT on Saturday.

* MOSUL - A suicide car bomber targeting a police patrol blew himself up, killing six people, including two policemen, and wounding five, three of them police, police said.

* BAGHDAD - Five bodies were found in different districts in Baghdad on Saturday, police said.

* BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol wounded six people in northeastern Baghdad, including two policemen, police said.

MOSUL - A suicide car bomber killed three people and wounded six in the northern city of Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said. The bomber targeted an Iraqi army checkpoint.

MOSUL - A fuel tanker driven by a suicide bomber wounded 15 people when it blew up near a military base in Mosul, police said.

BAGHDAD - A suicide car bomber struck a U.S.-backed Sunni neighbourhood patrol checkpoint in western Baghdad, killing two and wounding eight, including the head of the neighbourhood unit, police said.

MOSUL - A parked car bomb wounded three people in al-Danadan neighbourhood in central Mosul, police said.

TIKRIT - U.S. forces said they killed five gunmen in air strikes and gunbattles during a raid on suspected al Qaeda militants in Tikrit, north of Baghdad.

SAMARRA - A suicide bomber blew himself up near a U.S. position during an operation east of Samarra, U.S. forces said. U.S. troops killed a second suspected militant and arrested seven, and destroyed a suspected safe house, U.S. forces said.

BALAD - U.S. forces said they killed a suspect during a raid northwest of the northern town of Balad.

NORTHERN IRAQ - Turkish warplanes bombed northern Iraq on Friday and Saturday, the Turkish military said. PKK Kurdish guerrillas said no one was hurt.

BAGHDAD - A road sidebomb struck an Iraqi army checkpoint in the al-Slaikh neighbourhood of northern Baghdad, injuring three soldiers, police said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen wounded six people including three traffic police when they opened random in al-Wathiq Square, central Baghdad, said police.

KERBALA - Iraqi police and soldiers arrested four wanted suspects in northern Kerbala and confiscated 11 mortar rounds, police said.

KUT - An Iraqi soldier died and two other civilians were wounded when U.S. and Iraqi forces conducted a joint raid in the southern city of Kut, police said. The operation led to sporadic clashes and resulted in the arrest of 25 suspects, said captain Azeez al-Imara, the commander of the Iraqi unit involved. U.S. forces confirmed there were sporadic clashes in the town.

TIKRIT - A home-made bomb struck a police patrol in central Tikrit on Friday night, wounding eight people including four policemen, police said.

SAMARRA - Five militants from al Qaeda were killed, including a senior leader dubbed Mohammad Zahim al-Harboni, when U.S. warplanes struck their house on Friday evening in the Jillam area near Samarra, said Iraqi colonel Mazin Yunis. He said two of those killed were Saudis and the other two were Algerian and Syrian.

SAMARRA - U.S. forces said they killed three gunmen in an air strike on a vehicle in Samarra on Friday.

JAZEERA DESERT - Iraqi soldiers advised by U.S. Special Forces killed two gunmen during an operation in the Jazeera Desert. One Iraqi soldier died in the firefight, the U.S. military said.

HATRA - Armed men attacked a police car on Friday in Hatra, south of Mosul, killing two policemen.

MOSUL - A man and a woman were killed in a drive-by shooting in the southeast of Mosul on Friday.

BAGHDAD - Five militants were killed and three Iraqi soldiers wounded in an exchange of fire at an Iraqi army checkpoint on the northern outskirts of Baghdad on Friday, police said. Passengers opened fire against soldiers searching a vehicle who discovered weapons inside it. The soldiers responded, killing the five passengers.

ISKANDARIYA - Eight guards were wounded in a blast and fire on Friday at a fuel pipeline near Iskandariya, south of Baghdad. Iraqi police initially said the blast was caused by a bomb, but U.S. forces later said it was caused by a technical fault.
