Gunfire kills one Palestinian pilgrim, wounds four
GAZA (Reuters) - At least one Palestinian pilgrim was killed and four others were wounded by gunfire while crossing from Israel into the Gaza Strip on Sunday, Palestinian medical workers said.
The pilgrims were returning to the coastal territory after completing the annual haj pilgrimage in the Muslim holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
Medical workers said the pilgrims were hit by Israeli gunfire at the Erez border crossing in southern Gaza.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said the army was not aware of any shooting in the area.
Palestinian officials said about 700 pilgrims crossed back into Gaza on Sunday.
