Clinton Portis rushed for two touchdowns and Todd Collins directed the offense as the Redskins (9-7) earned the final NFC playoff spot by beating the top-seeded Cowboys (13-3).

"We have been through a range of emotions this year," Collins told reporters.

"We had some real low lows," he said referring to the shooting death of his team mate Sean Taylor. "Now we have some real high highs."

Washington visit the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday.

Dallas, which rested quarterback Tony Romo and other starters for part of the game, has a first-round bye.

The win was the fourth straight for the Redskins who ended a 10-game road winning streak by the Cowboys.

An aggressive Washington defense held Dallas to one-yard rushing, the lowest in franchise history.

Portis, who rushed for 104 yards, scored on a 23-yard run in the first quarter and put the Redskins ahead 20-7 with a one-yard rush in the third quarter. Collins completed 22 of 31 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown.

*The Tennessee Titans (10-6) claimed the AFC's final playoff spot by beating the Indianapolis Colts 16-10. Rob Bironas kicked three second-half field goals for the Titans and veteran reserve Kerry Collins directed the offense after starting quarterback Vince Young was injured. Colts (13-3) starter Peyton Manning played less than a half and did not throw a touchdown pass.

* The Cleveland Browns (10-6) posted a 20-7 home win over the San Francisco 49ers (5-11) but their playoff hopes ended when Tennessee beat Indianapolis.

* Andre Davis became the seventh player in NFL history to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in a game, leading the Houston Texans (8-8) to a 42-28 victory over the playoff-bound Jacksonville Jaguars (11-5). Davis broke a 14-14 tie by returning a Jaguars kickoff 97 yards for a score with 15 seconds left in the first half. He took the second-half kickoff 104 yards for another touchdown.

* Devin Hester scored twice as the Chicago Bears ended the New Orleans Saints' playoff hopes with a 33-25 home win. Hester ran a punt back 64 yards for his record-breaking sixth kick return of the season and caught a 55-yard TD pass as both teams finished 7-9.

* The Baltimore Ravens (5-11) ended a nine-game losing streak with a 27-21 home win over the AFC North champion Pittsburgh Steelers (10-6) who rested their regulars.

RUSHING CHAMPION

* Philip Rivers passed for two touchdowns and LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 56 yards to repeat as the NFL rushing champion in the San Diego Chargers' 30-17 road win over the Oakland Raiders (4-12). The win clinched the No. 3 spot in the AFC playoffs for the Chargers (11-5), who won their sixth straight.

* Brett Favre threw for two touchdowns as the playoff-bound Green Bay Packers improved to 13-3 with a 34-13 romp over the Detroit Lions (7-9).

* DeAngelo Williams's second touchdown, a 32-yard fourth-quarter run, led the Carolina Panthers (7-9) to a 31-23 road win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-7), who held out key players in preparation for the playoffs. Vinny Testaverde, the Panthers' 44-year-old reserve quarterback, ended his 21-year NFL career by taking one snap.

* Chris Redman's four touchdown passes, including three in the fourth quarter, led the Atlanta Falcons (4-12) to a 44-41 home win over the playoff-bound Seattle Seahawks (10-6) and snapped a six-game losing streak.
